“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25: 40
We recognise that God cares deeply for the most vulnerable in society and Leicester is a city in need. We want to play our part in the transformation of our city and in people's lives, and so we run a number of activities and programmes that we call our Compassion Ministries. Led by one member of staff Bridget Patel, who is responsible for oversight and administration (including Safeguarding), our Compassion Ministries are a significant provision for the city with thousands of volunteer hours invested in them every year.
In addition to the specific activities defined below, we also welcome vulnerable people to our church and provide them with an appropriate place of belonging in one of our missional communities.
Fridays, 7pm - 8:30pm, Trinity Hall (LE1 6WP)
Triangle is our Friday evening drop-in specifically for the homeless and vulnerably-housed (i.e. those with no fixed address). Each week we provide a hot meal and drink, food cupboard items to take away, basic toiletries, blankets but most importantly a listening ear.
We get to know our guests and for some we are able to provide more help for them to make real steps of improvement in their lives, whether that is getting benefits sorted out to budgeting advice to getting them into rehab.
Over the course of a year we will have provided 3000+ hot meals and given away hundreds of items that are collected through the church. At Christmas we are especially pleased to provide a full Christmas meal and entertainment for 100+ guests, at which they also receive a Christmas gift hamper as we don't want anyone to miss out.
Triangle involves over 1200 hours of volunteer engagement over the course of a year. If you are interested in helping, either as a cook on on a Friday evening itself, then please get in touch with us.
